Let’s start with a summary as
Elements :
Substances containing atoms of only one type. e.g Na, Au, Mg, etc. There are around 118 elements known to us. The first classification of elements was into Metals and Non-metals. Elements are classified to make the study easy.
The earliest attempt to classify the elements resulted in grouping the then known elements as metals and non-metals. Later further classifications were tried out as our knowledge of elements and their properties increased.

In the year 1817, Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner, a German chemist, tried to arrange the elements with similar properties into groups. He identified some groups having three elements each. So, he called these groups ‘triads’.

Dobereiner’s Triads :
When the elements were written in order of increasing atomic masses the atomic mass of the middle was the average of the atomic mass of the other two elements.

Newland’s Law of Octaves
Based on increasing atomic mass of elements.

Law of Octaves: When elements are arranged it was found that every eighth element had properties similar to that of the first. e.g properties of sodium and Lithium are the same.

All the above-mentioned topics are described in an interactive and efficient manner so that the students could easily understand them.
