  1. Here's something you probably didn't know: the water vaporizes into … VAPOR! That's right. It might be steam at the instant it boils off the water, but the surrounding air will immediately cool it back into vapor. You can't see steam at standard air pressure. So when you see white whispy stuff coming off your boiling water, remember that it's vapor and not steam.

  2. we used to rig lighters like that all the time. mostly just for fun but it also gave the smokers a bit of a shock when they tried to light a cigarette. when they're a little low on gas, if you throw it hard enough it might explode too.
